Indian Head Massage
This type of massage has been practiced in India and the surrounding countries for over a thousand years, and was traditionally a treatment done by women, passed down from mother to daughter, in order to keep their hair thick, healthy and in beautiful condition.This is an incredibly relaxing treatment involving massage of the upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face.
As well as the benefits of a healthy scalp and head of hair, the massage also relieves aches and pains in the muscles of the shoulders, back, neck, and face, releasing tension as well as easing headaches and eyestrain. This practice is very good for relieving the symptoms of stress.
Other health benefits include the stimulation of the lymphatic drainage system of the face, which strengthens the immune system, helps to clear nasal congestion, and improves the complexion and tone of the face.
After the initial deep relaxation of the treatment, many people report an increase in energy levels, vitality and clarity of mind, improved concentration, inspired creativity and a reduction in apathy and depression.
Please note, this treatment is unsuitable for people who have recently had injuries or surgery to the head, neck or shoulders, or who have whiplash of the spine. Also those who suffer from epilepsy, please inform the practitioner first as certain techniques are not advisable to be used in this circumstance.
